What is CBAP®?
CBAP® (Certified Business Analysis Professional) is the topmost 'core' business analysis certification offered by IIBA (the International Institute of Business Analysis).
As per IIBA, CBAP® is a professional certification for individuals with extensive business analysis (BA) experience. CBAP® recipients are the leading, senior members of the BA community.
It covers exhaustive knowledge on business analysis according to the BABOK® Guide.
Why is CBAP® important?
CBAP® showcases that you have the knowledge, competencies and experience required in business analysis from the leading authority in business analysis, IIBA.
CBAP® helps you stand out from the crowd when applying for Business Analyst jobs/roles and demonstrates commitment and dedication to your career as an experienced (senior) business analyst.
As per IIBA's annual survey report, CBAP® certified Business Analysts, on an average, earn up to 13% more than those who do not hold any certification!
What is the process for CBAP® certification?
1. First ensure you meet your eligibility requirements - 35 Professional development hours (within last 4 years), 7500 work history hours (within last 10 years) and provide 2 references.

2. Purchase your CBAP application (you will need to create an IIBA account for it)
3. Enter your eligibility details into the BA Development Log (i.e., business analysis work experience matching with various knowledge areas outlined in the BABOK® guide)
4. Submit your CBAP application and agree to IIBA's code of conduct, terms and conditions and CBAP certification handbook.
5. Then purchase the CBAP exam, study for it, schedule your exam and finally write the exam!

What is the structure of the CBAP® exam?
CBAP® exam can either be written online (remote proctored) or physically at a PSI® Test Center.
The exam duration is 3.5 hours. Total 120 multiple-choice, scenario-based and case-study based questions are asked.

What is asked in the CBAP® exam?
The CBAP® exam covers 6 Knowledge Areas and a few other chapters from the Business Analysis Body of Knowledge (BABOK® Guide) version 3.
The exact exam blueprint (i.e., sections from the BABOK guide and what percentage of questions are asked in the exam from the various sections/Knowledge Areas) can be found in the CBAP certification handbook.
